13 best Samsung Galaxy S7 cases right now

The Samsung Galaxy S7 is powerful, stylish and has a great camera, but it needs a case. That glass and metal body won't look so nice if you drop it on a concrete floor.
Despite that whole 'tougher' and waterproof thing, most people will still want to wrap up their new S7 in a protective case. These things aren't cheap, after all, and all that glass and metal won't take to kindly to a full-on pavement face plant.
Thankfully, with this being one of the hottest phones of the year, there's already a wide selection of top notch Galaxy S7 cases on the market. We've rounded up a few we particularly like the look of.
A good number of the cases on this list are from Samsung itself. The company has really gone to town this year with a commendable range of cases rather than just endless variations on a theme.

OBLIQ SLIM METa

The Slim Meta gives the Samsung Galaxy S7 a sleek, brushed aluminium-like finish, though it actually provides reassuringly solid dual-layer polycarbonate protection. This extends to button protectors, so those precariously exposed volume dials wont get wrecked in a drop.

BALLISTIC URBANITE SELECT

Ballistic's cases tend to reinforce the corners of the case with extra padding. Given that these invariably bear the brunt of any droppages, it's a smart idea. The Urbanite also looks distinctly smart, with a funky wood finish.
Price: £29.99

S7 case

SPECK CANDYSHELL

Fancy something a little snazzier to cover your Galaxy S7? Speck's CandyShell range provides a number of lairy (and not-so-lairy) designs to catch the eye. Don't let the flashy looks deceive you though - Speck's cases are grippy, snug, and tough to the tune of a military certification.
Price: £29.99

S7 case

SPIGEN SLIM ARMOR

We like Spigen's Slim Armor case because it provides rugged protection through a dual-layer design and Air Cushion technology, as well as a raised lip for screen protection. It also throws in a kickstand for hands-free media viewing. Bonus!
Price: £14.99

S7 case

SAMSUNG GALAXY S7 CLEAR VIEW COVER

The Samsung Clear View Cover is actually a full-on folio case, but the front cover is semi-transparent, so you can still see the display. In fact, you can even interact with the phone while the cover is closed, answering calls and skipping tracks without lifting the lid.
Price: £44.99
S7 case

SAMSUNG GALAXY S7 S VIEW COVER

This Samsung case is a little cheaper than the Clear View Cover, but it still offers all-round protection. The difference here is that there's a small cut-out for the Galaxy S7's always-on display feature, letting you keep an eye on the date and time even when it's closed up.
Price: £34.99
S7 case

MOPHIE JUICE PACK

This third party case isn't available just yet, but for some it will be a must-buy, despite the high price. Mophie has made a name for itself making smartphone cases that also extend the battery life of the phone, and the Galaxy S7 version is no exception. Its 3300mAh battery grants 60 percent more battery life, whilst also supporting wireless charging.
Price: £89.95
S7 case

SAMSUNG KEYBOARD COVER

Back to Samsung's impressive range, and the Samsung Keyboard Cover has to be the most outlandish of the lot. It's a standard rear-case, but it comes with a clip-on physical keyboard that essentially gives you S7 a full BlackBerry typing experience. This one will be big with the business crowd.
Price: £49.99
S7 case

LIFEPROOF FRE

As the name suggests, LifeProof makes cases that can take a real beating. Of course, the Galaxy S7 is already IP68 certified, which means it can survive a brief dip in water and dust. But the LifeProof Fre is listed as "Waterproof, dirtproof, snowproof, dropproof," so you can bet it provides extra protection. Sure enough, it's thick edges pretty much envelope the device, protecting it from droppages.
Price: £70
S7 case

SAMSUNG GALAXY S7 LED COVER

Samsung's LED Cover reminds us a lot of the HTC Dot View case, which has been in production for a couple of years now. It's a folio case that features a funky LED display on the front showing the time and other basic notifications. As will Samsung's other covers, you can also accept calls and control your alarm without opening the lid.
Price: £49.99
S7 case

OTTERBOX SYMMETRY

OtterBox is another top notch rugged case supplier, and its new Symmetry series looks like a good bet for protecting you S7. Its certified Drop+ protection offers "dual defensive layers" and a raised, bevelled edge that will protect that perilously exposed AMOLED display.
Price: £29.99
S7 case

SAMSUNG GALAXY S7 BACK PACK CASE

Think of the Samsung Galaxy S7 Back Pack Case as Samsung's own official take on the Mophie Juice Pack. It too is a rear cover that also provides extra charge - in this case 2000mAh. That's slightly less, but it does look sleeker.
Price: £69.99
S7 case

CASE-MATE TOUGH NAKED

No matter how nice the case, it's always a shame when you have to cover up your new phone - particularly when it's as handsome as the Samsung Galaxy S7. The Case-Mate Tough Naked (steady) minimises the visual impact whilst providing decent protection thanks to an opaque bumper and clear plastic back.

Samsung SM-G880 spotted in import database, could it be the Galaxy S7 Sport?

Indian import listing database, Zauba, is popular for leaking out devices ahead of their scheduled arrival. One such Samsung handset has now made it to this import database packing the model number SM-G880. Now it’s anybody’s guess as to what this device could be, but one theory floating around is that this could be a variant of one of the upcoming S7 series smartphones. Could it be another variant of the Galaxy S7 Active?
The import listing reveals the value of the smartphone to be 31,876 INR which is about $477, further suggesting that this is not a budget device. It’s important to note that Samsung has already released devices with the model numbers SM-G860 (AT&T Galaxy S5 Active), SM-G870 (Sprint Galaxy S5 Sport) and the SM-G890 (AT&T Galaxy S6 Active).
The Samsung Galaxy S7 Active has already popped up on benchmarks with the model number SM-G891A, so we can rule that out. Perhaps this will be Sprint’s own variant of the Galaxy S7 Active (the Galaxy S7 Sport?).
We must remember that not all devices that reach Zauba are assured of a launch. So take this particular revelation with a pinch of salt for the time being.

Galaxy S7 and S7 edge Now Available in Pink Gold

706_pink

Samsung Electronics has released Pink Gold editions of the Galaxy S7 and S7 edge, bringing the total of available colors for the devices to five. Debuting in Korea on April 20, the Pink Gold Galaxy S7 and S7 edge will soon be available for customers in select markets.

Pink Gold was chosen as it, like the other colors available for the Galaxy S7 and S7 edge, is a natural color that provides a sense of comfort. These hues glitter and shimmer as if illuminated from inside their glass surfaces.

In particular, the refined Pink Gold color scheme is intended to soothe and incorporate a touch of gentleness, radiance and sophistication to the smartphones’ design.

As well as Pink Gold, the Galaxy S7 and S7 edge are available in a choice of Black Onyx, Gold Platinum, White Pearl and Silver Titanium.

How to Get More Out of Your Galaxy S7 and S7 edge’s USB Connector

USBConnector_0512_Main_1

A latest addition to the ever-expanding range of Samsung Galaxy accessories, the On-The-Go Adapter (USB Connector) is an in-box item for both the Galaxy S7 and S7 edge. At first glance, it may look like a typical USB connector – but in fact it is allows you to do much more than ever before.

Simple Data Transfer

USBconnector_Main_2

The first thing most people do after buying a new smartphone is transfer important data – such as contacts, music files, videos, pictures and more – to their new phone from their old devices.

But while this process traditionally involves downloading data to a computer and then uploading it to your new smartphone, you can use the On-The-Go Adapter and the Galaxy S7 and S7 edge’s Smart Switch app to transfer data directly.

Smart Switch allows you to conduct mobile-to-mobile file transfers from iOS, Android, Blackberry and other operating systems, for easy data transfers to your Galaxy devices.

Simply connect the two smartphones together using the On-The-Go Adapter, and a new window will appear on the devices, allowing you to select the files you wish to send and receive. It’s a simple process, and there is no additional software to download or install.

Connecting Keyboards to Your Smartphone

You can enjoy more productivity options by connecting your smartphone with a keyboard. The On-The-Go Adapter lets you connect your Galaxy S7 to a keyboard for a PC-like typing experience. If you are using a wired keyboard, you can simply connect your smartphone to the keyboard with the USB Connector.

If your keyboard is wireless, simply connect the keyboard’s receiver with the On-The-Go Adapter and smartphone will automatically recognize the keyboard.

Read and Share Flash Drive Files

The On-The-Go Adapter also lets you read and share PowerPoint, Excel, PDF and other document formats from USB flash drives in the same way as you would with a PC. Simply connect the flash drive to your phone with the On-The-Go Adapter and it is ready to use.

Fast Battery Boost

Running low on battery? The On-The-Go Adapter also allows you to charge your Galaxy S7 or S7 edge using battery power from another phone – ideal when you are out and about, or when power outlets are hard to come by.

You can now register to beta test Samsung Pay in Singapore

After revealing plans to bring its mobile payment platform to seven additional markets this year, Samsung has today launched a pre-registration page in Singapore enabling eager customers to sign up for an opportunity to test Samsung Pay before it goes live for all compatible smartphones in the region. Unfortunately, it’s unclear how close the company is to rolling out the service to the masses, but if the time frame put in place for testing in South Korea is anything to go by, we should see an official launch within the next three-to-four weeks.
In order to get in on the beta testing action, you’ll need to own a factory unlocked variant of either the Galaxy S6 edge+, Galaxy S7, Galaxy S7 edge orGalaxy Note 5 registered in Singapore and have an active Samsung account linked to a qualifying debit/credit card issued by MasterCard or Visa. Unfortunately, there’s only a limited amount of spaces available in the program, and they’re being distributed on a first come, first served basis — so if you want to start using the service sooner rather than later, you better act fast as hundreds of applications are flying in by the minute.

Galaxy A8 receives Wi-Fi Certification running Android 6.0.1

Samsung has been, slowly but surely, dishing out the long-awaitedMarshmallow update to all eligible smartphones in its 2015/2016 lineup, and it now looks like the Galaxy A8 will be the next major handset to receive the firmware as the device has just been granted Wi-Fi Certification running the latest build of Android 6.0.1.
Typically, once a device passes through the Wi-Fi Certification facility and receives approval for an upgrade, manufacturers start pushing out an OTA within just one-to-two weeks — so if you own a Galaxy A8, you shouldn’t have too much longer to wait until you can start playing around with all the new functionality Marshmallow has to offer.
